Double Birthday

On Wednesday I had Jenny and Erin's Birthday on the same day. They were both so cute and excited!

Haha

In my PK class, I had my kids write short stories, and that is what my student Daniel wrote a story about. He has also drawn pictures, which I will post later......hahahaha

Lotus Lantern Festival and Buddha's Birthday!

This week we are celebrating Buddha's Birthday here in Korea. On Sunday, we went to the Lotus Lantern Festival in Insadong. It was a Festival full of food, crafts, and all kinds of other things all along the streets. Then there was a 2.5 hour parade. It was dark, so some of the pictures are grainy. It was really cool, and we were happy we got to experience it! ENJOY!

Nami Island 2

After spending the night in the house LCI rented we made our way to Nami Island. It's a man made island set in the middle of the Han River in Chuncheon, Korea. It's an imaginary "country" with its own fake passport. It's kind of like a theme park/ nature park. There was all kinds of entertainment, gardens, sculptures and much to see about traditional Korean customs. Also, there are several ostriches that roam freely around the island. You will see pictures and a video near the end. Enjoy! Taking the the Nami Maid Ferry to the Naminara Republic!
Welcome to Nami Island!
The men of LCI.....Patrick, bus driver, David, and of course Terrence.
The whole LCI gang......9 American Teachers,7 Korean staff and the Director.
I think that looks so cool!
All the paths around Nami Island are lined with these really tall trees. It makes for a great effect and some awesome pictures!
Skybikes!
Terrence and I went on the Skybike. It was a bike you pedaled through the trees basically. The track.
Creepy but interesting sculpture made out of metal.
Cool wooden bridge that went around much of the island.
Inside the hut.
This is a hut where Koreans used to make kimchi. They would make it in large pots, then bury it under the ground, and protect it under the huts.
Cute right???....Terrence looks so enthused by the situation, haha!
Really cool wooden sculptures.
A little hut.
Terrence a little freaked out!
The ostrich and I strolling along. I have never been more excited!

Nami Island Trip

This Friday we left LCI after teaching and took a bus 2 hours outside of the city. We were in the mountains, and our Director rented us a really nice house on the River. We had barbecue and wine made especially for our school from Australia. There was a presentation for "Best Teacher" Award.....and I got one of the two awards! I was happy to know my hard work is so appreciated!Me with some of the Korean staff from LCI......Sarah, Ally and Kara.
The view. Being out of the city was awesome!
The spread!
We had a fire and barbeque for dinner! So yummy!
The girls sleeping room. Gotta love sleeping on the floor.
