Manner Education: Tea Time at LCI (Megan's Class)

This Thursday we had Manner Education at LCI. The younger kids learned how to bow, and the older kids learned the proper manners for having tea. They dressed up in traditional hanbok outfits, and participated in the tea ceremony with a Korean woman specializing in the traditions of Korea. Here are several pictures from the day. Enjoy!

  1. Pepita,
This segment was most enjoyable. One of my strongest memories of my tour in Japan was my attendance at a Formal Tea Ceremony. When the 3rd Division first got to Japan the propaganda from WW II had said that in order to be a Marine you had to kill your mother or your father and if you were an officer you had killed both of them. In order to acculturate us and the Japanese our Commanding General arranged for many excursions into Japanese Culture. One of them was the attendance at the Tea Ceremoney.
