Shrinking Classes

So I had school today. Many kids were absent, but I suppose the show must go one. I started the day with only 4/9 kids, and then two showed up late. Two of my kids officially have H1N1, and one caught it at the hospital supposedly. One teacher had only 3 kids their today, and the grand prize winner was a teacher with one student in her Morning Kinder class! I'm not sure what the next few weeks will bring, but we shall see. I'm not worried at all, just annoyed that we are kept in the dark at work and living day by day.
***On a lighter note I took the long way home from work today and went on a 45 minute walk! It was much warmer today, and almost got up to 60 degrees. The weather is all over the place here (sort of reminiscent of Rochester).

Fall Colors

Trying to be artistic....

Get your workout in

My favorite part of Olympic Park. They have an entire gym circuit in a huge field, and you can workout....interesting

Olympic Park

I went on a walk to Olympic Park today. It was a little overcast and chilly, but I had to get out and do something. I walked around the entire park for about two hours. It was awesome to get lots of fresh air!

Heated floors....

So it is approximately 30 degrees here today and bitter cold and windy. I am hiding out in my apartment and decided to finally use my heat. To my amazement I have found out that our apartments are heated through our floors. My feet stay toasty and my apartment gets warmed up. Downfall.. the bathroom floor is not heated, so it is freezing in there. I am keeping the door closed in order to consolidate heat!(dad, I'm sure I learned that from you)

Weekend Adventures :)

Now that I have some free time I figured I would share about my experience this weekend. I had a a very eventful day on Saturday! I woke up early and went to Itaewon for a doctors appointment. I hailed my first taxi (ever) and the driver managed to get lost. I eventually made it there and was happy to meet about ten other English speaking Americans in the doctors office. Itaewon is the foreign district in Seoul, and the location of the U.S military base so it is a very English accessible place. I walked past an Outback Steakhouse, and many other American eateries. It started raining though, and my walk was cut short. I hopped back on the subway and went to Sangbong, which is the location of the CostCo here. It was pretty much the best place ever. My membership fee was line $30.00 for the year, and they had everything American you could imagine. I got some tortillas, cheddar cheese, salsa, cherry tomatoes, turkey breast, turkey burgers, salami, hot chocolate mix, craisins, and an industrial jar of Jiffy Extra Chunky Peanut Butter!! It was two floors, and you were able to take your cart on these huge escalators and it locked in as you rode up or down (pretty sweet). I then proceeded to walk back to the subway carrying way to many things in my Vera Bradley bag and arms. I probably pulled a back muscle but it was worth it!!

Swine Flu!!!....dun dun dun

Soo.. SWINE FLU has hit LCI Academy! We went into work today and had no kids and were told to clean our rooms. They were cleaning out the air vents so we wore masks all day. They let us go at 12:30, and told us not to come back tomorrow. I have a strong feeling school is closed all week. Over 300 schools in South Korea have closed for two weeks due to swine flu, and the number keeps rising. So I get a few days vacation to do some more exploring!! Wish me luck.....
